What this app does
This app turns any quote into a cryptogram puzzle. A cryptogram is a quote where each letter is swapped with another letter. The solver has to figure out the swap and decode the quote.
You can build a full pack of puzzles in under a minute, then download it as a PDF or PNG.
The fastest way to start
Click Load 20 Sample Quotes in the left panel
Pick a theme from the right panel (try Orange Framed or Vintage)
Click PDF in the top right to download
Tip: The right panel is the Quick Access panel. Use it for fast changes. The left panel has deep controls for fine tuning.
Adding your own quotes
In the left panel, open Your Quotes. Type one quote per line. Add the author with two dashes:

Without author: A penny saved is a penny earned.
The puzzles will rebuild as you type. If you do not want author names on the page, turn off Show author attribution.
Tip: Keep quotes between 30 and 150 characters. Very long quotes can run off the page or look cramped.
How the cipher works
Each letter in the quote is swapped with another letter. The same letter is always swapped with the same other letter inside one puzzle. No letter is ever swapped with itself, so the puzzle is always solvable.
Cipher type
Letters: A becomes Q, B becomes M, and so on
Numbers: A becomes 7, B becomes 14, and so on
Hints
Hints reveal a few letters to make the puzzle easier. Use the Hints Per Puzzle stepper to set how many letters are revealed. 0 means no hints, 3 to 5 makes a friendly easy puzzle, 1 is medium difficulty.
Cipher layouts
You can change how the cipher looks on the page. Open Cipher Style in the right panel and try different Cipher Layouts. Each layout shows the letters in a different way.
Tip: Click Reshuffle All Ciphers if you want new substitutions for all puzzles.
Themes
A theme is a full design preset. It sets the colors, fonts, borders, frames, spacing, and cipher style all at once. Pick a theme to instantly change the whole look.
Themes live in the right panel under Page Theme.
Important: Picking a new theme overwrites your manual changes. If you have customized colors or fonts and then pick a theme, those changes will be reset to the theme defaults.
Customizing after a theme
Once you have a theme, you can change anything you want in the left panel. Open Element Typography to change fonts and sizes for each piece (title, subtitle, attribution, and so on). Use the left panel sections to tweak borders, margins, and spacing.
Quick Access on the right
The right panel has the controls you reach for most: theme, background, cipher style, and show or hide elements. Use it for fast iteration.
Page size
Three sizes are available: US Letter (8.5 by 11 inches), Square (8.5 by 8.5 inches), and Custom. Custom lets you set width and height in inches or pixels.
Margins
The chain icon between the margin steppers locks all four margins together. When chained, changing any margin moves all four. Click the chain to unlock and move them independently.
Pagination
The app works like Microsoft Word. If you make a font bigger or add more quotes, the content flows into the next page. Nothing gets cut off and nothing crosses the margins.
Spacing presets
Open Spacing Between Elements in the left panel. At the top you will see four presets: Compact, Balanced, Spacious, and Airy. Pick one to set all spacing values at once. Then fine-tune individual spacings below.
Tip: If your page looks empty at the bottom, try a more Spacious or Airy preset, or increase the gap between puzzles.
PDF
Click the PDF button in the top right. The app builds a multi-page PDF at print quality with no branding on the pages.
PNG
Click the PNG button. You can pick four sizes:
Small (1x): good for web preview
Medium (2x): good for standard print
Large (3x): good for high quality print
Ultra Large (4x): maximum quality
If your pack has more than one page, the PNG export gives you a ZIP file with one image per page.
Generating quotes with AI
The big orange button at the top of the left panel says Generate Quotes with AI. Click it to open the AI window.
Pick how many quotes you want
Pick the theme, tone, and length
Click Copy Prompt to Clipboard
Open ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or DeepSeek (links are in the same window)
Paste the prompt, let the AI generate the quotes
Copy the AI's reply, paste it back into the box at the bottom of the window
Click Import Quotes
The app will parse the quotes and build the pack automatically.
Tip: If the AI adds extra commentary or numbering, the app strips it out and keeps only the quote lines.
